The young man had escaped through a health centre window and made his way to Tenerife Sur airport
A young British man was detained last week by the Policía Nacional at Tenerife Sur airport while attempting to fly back home despite having tested positive for Covid-19 at a health centre shortly beforehand.
It is reported that the youngster was on holiday with his father and grandfather in the Canaries and had escaped through a window of the health centre on learning the results of his antigen test. The incident was reported immediately to Aena security staff at the airport, where the doors were closed as officers of the Policía Nacional joined those already on duty at the Aeropuerto Reina Sofía.
It transpired that the fugitive had bought a new air ticket and was attempting to return to the UK before his original scheduled flight, but when he was apprehended he was immediately placed in quarantine: he will now remain in isolation in a room at the hotel where his relatives are staying.
