Who is Ireland’s Eurovision entry Brooke Scullion?

Brooke was born on March 31, 1999 in Bellaghy, a village in County Londonderry in Northern Ireland.

The critically-acclaimed singer, who works as an estate agent when she’s not on stage, was dubbed one to watch on the British pop music scene by BBC Introducing.

Brooke shared her excitement to be representing her home in the international singing competition on her Instagram page, calling it “a dream come true.”

She has already received messages of congratulations from celebrities including Jamie-Lee O’Donnell from Channel 4’s Derry Girls, American singer Meghan Trainor and fellow Derry girl Dana who won Eurovision in 1970.

What song is Brooke Scullion singing at Eurovision?

Brooke is singing an original song called That’s Rich.

The Derry girl wrote this song after a break-up as a way to make herself feel happy and fun again.

Brooke said that the song was inspired by Blondie, having written it whilst reading Debbie Harry’s autobiography.

Brooke won Eurosong 2022, Ireland’s national final, with 28 points after performing That’s Rich.

When was Brooke Scullion on The Voice?

Brooke rose to fame after she auditioned for the ninth series of The Voice UK in 2020.

In her blind audition, she sung Lewis Capaldi’s Bruises and earned chair turns from all four coaches.

Brooke chose Meghan Trainor to be her coach and made it all the way to the final where she sung Stevie Nicks’ Edge of Seventeen.

She also performed a duet alongside Ella Eyre, singing Giant by Calvin Harris and Rag’n’Bone Man.

Brooke finished in third place and went on to release her first single, Attention, which featured on Official UK Charts New Music Friday Round Up.

Brooke will compete in the second semi-final in Turin, Italy, on May 12 where 35 countries will battle it out to make it to the top 20.

If she is successful, Brooke will join representatives from the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Germany and Spain in performing at the 66th Eurovision Song Contest.
