Germany and Italy diverge on inflation: What implications for the eurozone?

Germany and Italy’s inflation season is shaping expectations for the eurozone’s economic outlook ahead of their inflation report. In March, consumer price data showed a four-month low in Germany and a record high for Italy. While Germany’s inflation measures slowed to 2.2% year-on-year, the mixed results highlight cross-cultural differences in the eurozone’s economic adjustment efforts.
