Toxic smoke warning as man ‘lucky to be alive’ after power bank flat fire

Kris Middleton was woken in the middle of the night by a fire in the hallway of his flat in Benwell, Newcastle upon Tyne, caused by a phone power bank overheating while on charge on June 8, 2025.
