After President Joe Biden was briefed on the scale of the Russian build-up of troops at the border with Ukraine, talks were held with seven other world leaders as well as representatives from the EU and NATO.
Following the call, “something changed in the last few hours”, say ITV News correspondents on the ground, and the US and the UK urged their citizens to leave Ukraine “now”.
Many of the US’ allies including Britain, Israel, Japan and the Netherlands changed their travel advice within a short period of time.
Russia, however, has called the US’s response “hysteria”.
Following the serious escalation, ITV News US Correspondent Emma Murphy reports on the developing situation from Washington, along with Correspondent Rachel Younger in Moscow, and Global Security Editor Rohit Kachroo in London.
