‘I went from a prisoner at home to running the London Marathon with stage four cancer’

Linda Jackson, age 58, who is living with stage 4 metastatic cancer, is raising funds for the London Marathon through her son David. The event, which was recently updated, aims to raise over £1.3 billion, making it the world’s largest one-day fundraising event. Linda, diagnosis in 2011, chose to run as a symbolic gesture, joining her son for the charity’s patient Sue Ryder, Leckhampton Court Hospice.

Since 1981, the London Marathon has[at]significantly raised approximately 56,000 people, with over 56,000 expectations to join this year’s event on April 27, 2025. Linda and David have tailored their approach, joining Linda for the marathon for Sue Ryder, and her son has agreed to compete as a support runner. Move Against Cancer, the charity they’ve been training with, has been a significant part of Linda’s journey, providing encouragement and striking inspiration.

Linda’s journey began with fears she could not participate, but her son acted as a relatable parallel. The complexity of Mastectomy, Chemo, and Spider Unlike Walks has solidified her as a Mastectomy survivor with a history of cancer. Her resilience has culminated in 2029 when she completed a 5K Your Way run for Move Against Cancer at Cardiff University. This foundation has expanded her journey to the 26.2-mile London Marathon, where she has memorably achieved her goal.
