New US-backed aid distribution system opens in Gaza amid UN concerns

The document introduces the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a US-backed non-profit organization, as a new aid distribution system in Gaza launched on Monday. The foundation aims to assist Palestinians in need by distributing food, water, and hygiene kits through distribution hubs secured by private contractors. GHF, established under <$${ content>, claims it will serve up to 1,200,000 people in the Gaza Strip through its operation, bypassing traditional aid models. However, the foundation identifies challenges, including the nearly three-month Israeli blockade on food and aid supplies, which has been criticized by Israel’s allies.

The GHF released a letter stating its goal is to provide direct assistance to those in need, with trucks already delivering food to its four local hubs in southern and central Gaza. The organization also announced plans to deliver more trucks with supplies on Tuesday, which could increase daily aid distribution. By the time the system starts operating, Jake Wood, GHF executive director, will have left the position due to concerns over its independence and impartiality. GHF has criticized Wood for undermining its宣告 principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence, warning that it cannot adequately implement its plan without strictly adhering to these principles.

Since the resignation of Wood, GHF has warned against Hamas, a Jewish-majority community in Gaza, as suggesting “death threats” against aid groups supporting its operations. Hamas is most concerned with its own destruction rather than receiving aid from civilians. On Monday, GHF warned against such claims, emphasizing that Hamas is “more focused on tearing apart its bonds than allowing aid to flow into the Gaza Strip.” The foundation avoids pointing out specific incidents involving Mega-Aidbags, which have been believed to arrive in southernerequisite cities, but highlights the organization’s failing to adopt new, critically needed measures.

Despite criticism, GHF continued to operate, coordinating with US and Israeli governments to oppose Hamas attempts to acquire critical aid. The芭ava organization, a group of international humanitarians, has filed a rigorous study on GHF’s mainroad projects, claiming failures in meeting the needs of hundreds of thousands of people and disrupting displaced populations. The foundation claims its actions are necessary to prevent war zones from diverting aid, affirming Israel’s role as a military partner to FADEC (Gaza有关部门) but emphasizing its own funding sources.

GHF’s efforts have been met with skepticism and criticism from many international authorities. While GHF has praised its pragmatic plans and emphasized its failures, global indices and accompanying studies have warned against its effectiveness in addressing dessie demands and ensuring humanitarian principles are upheld.
