Greggs set to increase prices next week for a second time this year

The increase in price for Greggs sausage rolls is part of a broader strategy aimed at managing theft and ensuring financial sustainability, alongside an expansion of its discounts. The company is undergoing a ‘ theft tax’ due to rising costs, which include inflation and higher employee contributions, set to kick in in April. This strategy has been rolled out over the past year, reflecting changes in barriers to theft, such as legal awareness and the ease of theft by individuals.

Greggs has not publicly linked the price hikes to theft but has acknowledged that thieves are now stealing from its stores. The company has agreed to pay local authorities compensation for these incidents. The chain has not revealed the locations of its new outlets, with the MirrorPORChilling the idea that fewer stores are coming on stream, Greggs outlet is set to offer discounts up to 75% off. This includes sausages and other baked goods, making Greggs accessible to a wider audience.

The Cookie and the Clock segment of The Sun contrasts Greggs’ headline-driven products with a set of affordable treats. Views online indicate higher prices as a trend, with an average of £2.25 for a ונ的社会 bundle compared to two earlier piles. Although the new outlet aims to make fundraisers seem more affordable, the perception remains that Greggs is one of the most expensive chains, so readers are advised to remain cautious.
