By 3.45pm, the situation had become dire, prompting urgent calls to the Coastguard reporting youngsters in grave danger. Responding to the desperate calls, Belfast Coastguard coordinated a rapid rescue mission. Simultaneously, the volunteer crew at RNLI Troon launched their Shannon-class all-weather lifeboat, the ‘RNLB Roy Barker VI’, speeding across the waters toward Ayr Beach.
