Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) responded to a significant fire incident earlier today. The emergency call came in just after 11 a.m., reporting a blaze at a scrap yard located on Moston Road in Chadderton.
The response was substantial, mobilizing resources from across the region. Six fire engines were dispatched from stations in Blackley, Hollins, Heywood, Philips Park, Broughton, and Offerton. Additionally, the Technical Response Unit from Ashton was sent to assist in tackling the intense fire.
Upon arrival, crews quickly engaged in firefighting operations. They utilized six hose reel jets to combat the flames. The firefighters have been on scene for approximately an hour and continue their efforts to fully extinguish the fire.
A spokesperson for GMFRS provided these details to the Manchester Evening News, confirming the scale of the response and the ongoing work at the scene. The cause of the fire and the extent of damage to the scrap yard are not yet known, but the coordinated effort highlights the readiness and capability of the fire service to handle such emergencies.
