EU agrees new sanctions on Russia’s oil and banks after Robert Fico lifts his veto

The European Union (EU) has established new sanctions against Russia, targeting its energy and financial sectors. These include bans on transactions with 22 Russian banks, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDF) and its subsidiaries, and the extraction of revenues from undersea Nord Stream pipelines, which were previously shut but were affordable to restart in the future. The EU has also revised the price cap for Russian crude oil, reducing it from $60 to $47.6 per barrel, based on market prices.
