Costa praises Montenegro’s EU progress, urges focus on 2028 membership goal

The European Council President Antonio Costa attended Montenegro’s first official visit to the country. He praised Montenegro’s progress towards EU membership during his meeting with President Jakov Milatović. The meeting was preceded by a discussion on Montenegro’s Spring elections, a draft that was considered for inclusion in the EU’s autumn economic agenda. The leaders will focus on advancing Montenegro’s EU integration by institutionalizing tangible actions and aligning with EU’s economic and strategic goals. While Montenegro is currently focused on building a strong economic and political foundation, this is the very time when it has the opportunity to set direct concrete actions that will set the country’s future on solid ground.
