The mental health challenges faced by the working population are particularly concerning, with many individuals experiencing high levels of stress, taking more sick leave, and seeking greater support from their employers. According to a new report by Axa and IPSOS, a survey conducted across 16 countries among 18 to 75-year-olds revealed that respondents worldwide are struggling with worsening mental health issues. Key factors contributing to this mental health crisis include financial instability, job insecurity, and constant exposure to negative media and political changes. One in three individuals cited factors like high salary, long hours, or poor work-life balance as a significant concern in their mental health journey, emphasizing the need for greater awareness and support.

One of the most significant findings of the report is that depression and anxiety remain the most prevalent mental health condition, with nearly a third of respondents stating such conditions. The average stress level for the past two weeks was still above normal, and a quarter of survey recipients had taken up sick leave in the past year due to mental health issues. These ages are particularly vulnerable, with over half of the respondents reporting mental health-related sick leave, rising to 27% of all sick leave in 2024, compared to 20% in 2023. This increase is attributed to stressors such as climate change and increasing online threats, which can lead to eco-anxiety and heightened stress.

The report also highlights that young adults are experiencing a generational gap in mental health issues. More than half of survey respondents reported high stress levels, with a quarter being externally mentally ill, significantly more than the general population. Among younger adults aged 18 to 24, 61% stated that they suffer from a mental health condition, an increase of 85% from the general population. This trend remains evident even after accounting for age, indicating a deeper Shakeиз a shak handshake of concerns that over a third of young adults are experiencing mental health challenges.

Financial instability is another key factor in mental health struggles, according to the report. The average time lost due to mental health issues for employees aged 25 to 74 has surged by 12 billion working days, or more than 27%, prompting companies to better understand the mental health impacts of hyper(:mental breakdown) work. Blinders like benefits union project had created a legitimacy trail for employees to Legalize mental health by denying health insurance during campaigns. Yet, despite efforts to address mental health, only 5% of 75% surveyed companies guarantee workplace support for mental health or well-being.

The financial cost of mental health issues is over £34 billion a year, with £12 billion lost each quarter. Workplace policies alone account for 24% of all sick-leave days, and companies have identified several unmet needs.
