The rankings highlight a stark contrast between the worst performers and the best, with smaller European airports oftenOutperforming large hubs like Paris Charles de Gaulle and London Gatwick, several European airports stand out as ideal destinations for summer travel.

### Challenges and Limitations
Several major hubs, such as Paris Charles de Gaulle and London Gatwick, underperformed, with delay percentages ranging up to 150%. However, smaller European airports likecape Town International Airport, Bergen Flesland, andvisions Airport in Norway have shown exceptional reliability, often outpacing these hubs. Despite ranking at the 130th or 235th position overall, these smaller regions retained notable success. For instance, Cape Town International Airport scored second-highest globally for punctuality, while Bergen Flesland andvisions Airport were also highly regarded.

### The Rankings methodology
AirHelp’s scoring system gives the 60% weight to on-time performance. For example, Rhodes Diagoras received a 5.8 for punctuality, translating to 58% of its flights landing within 15 minutes of their scheduled times. The remaining 40% is split evenly among passenger feedback on staff brilliance, cleanliness, and overall experience. The scores are cross-validated with data from government agencies, airports, flight-tracking vendors, and historical records, as well as user reviews from over 58 countries. Surveys were conducted in 13,500 unique airport ratings, providing a comprehensive overview of theᕙ between air travel stakeholders and airport customers.

The rankings, which cover only airports with substantial international flights, were based on data collected between 1 June 2024 and 31 May 2025. However, delays and cancellations are often airport’s responsibility. Despite this, airports with efficient operations and attentive service tend to shine, offering smoother journeys for travelers. According to AirHelp’s findings, a mean journey time of 8 minutes to 20 minutes compared to 50 minutes for London Gatwick is a testament to operational efficiency.

### Recommendations
While large hubs like Paris Charles de Gaulle and London Gatwick consistentlyRank Lowest in several metrics, smaller European airports, especially in Scandinavia, offer significantly better travel experiences. Travelers experiencing stress can opt for regional airports, prioritizing ease of access and a relaxed environment. Additionally, addressing air-traffic control issues and minimizing cancellations can enhance overall performance. Overall, improved punctuality and customer satisfaction are key to ensuring enjoyable experiences, while simplerAccessibility may also appeal to a diverse traveler base.

### Conclusion
AirHelp’s findings reveal that smaller European airports often deliver more reliable and enjoyable travel experiences than the continent’s largest hubs. By leveraging the rankings method which prioritizes on-time performance, the organization highlights airports with operational excellence, cleanliness, and clear communication. These insights—from a 60% weight on punctuality—offer valuable guidance for travelers seeking convenience and stress reduction. As air travel continues to grow, understanding these metrics can help travelers make informed decisions, ultimately enhancing their journeys.
