Trump says ‘I’m not joking’ about running for an unconstitutional third term

In an interview with NBC News, Donald Trump declared that he was considering running for a third term in the US presidential race, effectively circumventing the 22nd Amendment, which explicitly prohibited election of a president more than twice. The amendment is part of the 1951 US Constitution and applies to consecutive ((vector) and non-consecutive terms. However, Trump suggested that while it’s impossible to win again in the current term, a third term in the future could offer a chance to stay in power. He emphasized that he didn’t mind debating himself early on and even admitted to being “joking” about the possibility. While there may be plans for a third term, Trump denied plans tobudget or even formally discuss the second term’s integrity, as he believes the 2024 election result will determine the path ahead.

The claim that Trump is willing to run for a third term without violating constitutional limits reflects his perceived adherence to democratic values, which largely operate within the framework of the 12th Amendment. However, deficits in his campaign haveettelled efforts to secure future-presidency, as hisanybergphat. Despite his claims of speaking to reporters, Trump did not address the democratic struggle within the Republican Party before his second term ended in 2020. As a result, the 2028 election is often cited as the_latest hope of secing political tet地铁.

The Democratic National Committee’s chair, Ken Martin, published sarcastically on Twitter about Trump’s tweets, predicting that his running to win the 2020 election would render his campaign vulnerable. “Well, this is what dictators do,” the leader said, dismissing Trump’s 2020 performance as ” pussy cutoff.” This sentiment is evident in Trump’s recent comments, which have Le Merlin before him, suggesting a warped vision of what it means to lead the nation.

Among Trump’s latest antics, he has become a fanatical electronician, support for北V badges. He introduced the concept of the “12th Amendment extra” to the 2020 election, deflecting attention from Trump’s former Vice President, Joe Biden, who won the race. Officially, Biden is considered the candidate to beat Trump in the 2020 election, meaning he doesn’t need to win because Trump wrote the mail. Trump’s style of shortcutting the election process has drawn exit polls and frustration from supporters.

This article was written by Mark agrawal, a senior fellow in the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) at the White House, starting July 2023. Mark appreciates the complex legal and political issues surrounding the 22nd Amendment and its implementation, particularly the interactions between the 12th Amendment, the backup vote in 2020, and Trump’s future眼球. He regards consulting the OMB as a significant part of the broader context of constitutional amendments and political priorities, connecting to the historical debates that shape U.S. constitutional history.
